Sahar Muranovic
David Douglas School Board, Position 4
What I Stand For
Elevating the voices of our immigrant and refugee students and families
-
Student-Centered Services
Sahar will work to invest in our educators, as well as social workers, counselors, and mental health services.
-
Equity and Inclusion
Representation matters, and Sahar will make sure the voices of our communities are heard and schools are committed to equity, inclusivity, and restorative justice.
-
Housing and Safety
Our youth are just as affected by the housing crisis, unemployment, and the threat of violence. Sahar will work tirelessly to protect our vulnerable youth facing houselessness, food insecurity, or bullying.

About Sahar
As a first-generation immigrant, community organizer, and advocate of racial and gender equity, I am running to make sure our youth of color, ESL students, queer youth, and immigrant and refugee communities are heard and represented. I am a strong advocate of restorative justice practices and investing in mental health resources. I will work towards making sure our schools are investing in additional social workers and counselors in our schools, as well as access to resources that are inclusive and equitable.
Sahar Yarjani Muranovic is a first-generation Iranian-American who grew up in Vienna, Austria. She has a Master's degree in International Human Rights and a Bachelor's degree in Business. Formerly the Volunteer and Training Coordinator at the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO), Sahar now serves as the Communications and PR Manager for Child Foundation, an international nonprofit focused on supporting economically disadvantaged children to make sure they are able to remain in school.
